- ALS is a dangerous disease, in which the muscles of the body become weak.
- Mental symptoms may be seen first in early symptoms of ALS disease.
Aimyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a deadly neurological disease in which the muscles of the body stop functioning slowly. Because of this, the patient starts having problems in shaking hands and feet, walking, speaking, swallowing and breathing. This disease increases gradually and its accurate treatment has not been found yet. This research, published in Jama Neurology, has revealed that the risk of ALS may increase in people taking common medicines related to anxiety, depression and sleep. There may be a connection between these drugs and ALS. However, this does not mean that these medicines are the direct cause of the disease.
Now the question is whether people struggling with enzyme, depression and sleep problems should stop these medicines? On this, health experts clearly say that no patient should close his medicine by himself. If someone has problems related to enzyme, depression or sleep, then talk to the doctor first. Sudden closure of medicines can worsen mental and physical condition. This study does not mean that mental health medicines are harmful, but its aim is to take precautions both doctors and patients. Especially when these medicines are being used for a long time, then be more aware about it.
