According to the news of TOI, the homeopath doctors who have done a 6-month pharmacology course in Maharashtra will be able to prescribe modern medicines. However, which medicines and diseases will be included in it, it has not been decided yet. Maharashtra Medical Council has recently released a notification in this regard. It states that homeopath doctors who have CCMP, a modern pharmacology certificate course, can register in the council. Maharashtra Medical Council Administrator Dr. Vinki Rughwani said that we have received approval from the government and the law department. The case is pending in court. We will start registration from July 15. Till then we will study which medicines they can write.
The controversial verdict of homeopathic doctor’s English medicine began in 2014. The state government then amended the Maharashtra Homeopath Property Act and the Medical Council Act of 1965. With this amendment, homeopath doctors were allowed to prescribe modern medicines on certain conditions. After this, the Indian Medical Association challenged these amendments in the court. The Bombay High Court had stayed this. Efforts were being made to sideline this ban from the end of last year. In December 2024, the Food and Drug Administration instructed the chemists and wholesalers. He said that allopathic medicines should be sold to homeopath doctors who have completed the CCMP course.

IMA Maharashtra President Dr. Santosh Kadam said, FDA is a regulator of medicines. He does not have the right to decide who can become a doctor. This right is only with MMC. Dr. Kadam said that the circular of MMC now gives legal power to this decision. It was not strong before the circular. Now it has been given a legal form. There was a meeting between Mahrashtra minister Hassan Mushraif, BJP MLA Randhir Savarkar, MMC and Homeopathic organizations recently. After this, this decision was taken. MMC was asked to implement the 2014 amendment.
