425 people kept in surveillance
The NCDC team has first created a war room. From here, the areas affected by Nipah are constantly being monitored. Inputs are being gathered from different districts and people who are seen in contact with the virus have been kept under surveillance. 425 people who came in contact with the infected person have been kept in surveillance. The Health Minister has directed people living in close contact to give psychological advice. In Palakkad district, 110 people came in contact with the patient, out of which 61 people are health workers. A 38 -year -old woman has suffered from Nipah in Palakkad district. In the same Malapuram district, an 18 -year -old girl has died, about which it is suspected that it was also infected with Nipah virus.
Three people in three districts of Kerala have been infected by Nipah virus. An 18 -year -old girl in Kozhikode and a 38 -year -old woman in Malappuram have been found to have a test positive. These cases have been confirmed by the National Institute of Virology in Pune. It is believed that the coming 4–5 days are very important. Dr. Sanjay Rai, Professor of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Community Medicine, says that the coming four to five days are very important for Kerala. It is very important to know how fast the virus is spreading so that time can be controlled.
How dangerous is Nipah
Dr. Sanjay Rai said that this virus is spread by coming in contact with an infected person or animal. Especially from the fluids of their body. It can also spread through contaminated fruits, food or air. In 2018 too, there was an outbreak of Nipah in Kerala in which 17 people died. This virus is considered extremely dangerous and its mortality can range from 40 to 75 percent. But in reality more people die. So far, 639 cases of Nipah virus have been reported worldwide. Among them, Malaysia 265, Bangladesh 261, India 85, Philippines 17 and Singapore 11 people have been infected.
When infection of Nipah virus is in someone, then fever comes with very high headache. Apart from this, symptoms like sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea are seen. Investigations like RT-PCR and ELISA are used to detect this virus.
Method of avoiding nipah
This virus can be installed due to exposure to animal or human being in infection of Nipah virus. So make distance from sick people or animals. Take special care of cleanliness, eat raw fruits or vegetables thoroughly. At the same time, contact a doctor immediately on any symptom.
